Founded in February 2014 by sisters Beste and Merve Manastır, Manu Atelier is the product of a lifelong reverence for craft. The daughters of one of Istanbul’s oldest leather goods manufacturers, the sisters grew up surrounded by the sights, smells, and textures of fine leatherwork. Their father, a master artisan since 1961, passed down not only technical skill but a deep, emotional connection to the art of making by hand.

As the founders put it: “Handbags are the most tangible faces of our childhood… The smell of leather ties the past and the present. The history of Manu Atelier started many years ago when we were two little girls; it was just born in 2014.”

Their shared vision? To preserve the artistry of traditional leatherwork while offering a new, modern perspective.
