Designer Spotlight: Sies Marjan
When we think of Sies, we think of rich colors, intricate draping and fabric with beautiful hand. For his Spring 2018 collection, Dutch Creative Director Sander Lak emphasized his talent as a colorist with a beautiful display of disheveled monochromatic looks in gorgeous shades of baby blue, seafoam green, salmon pink and neon orange. The collection’s almost painterly quality was the most striking to us – we brought in multiple pieces of the baby blue watercolor print to compliment cropped flare trousers and flat brogues in baby pink.
SIes Marjan was established recently, in 2016, with an in-house atelier in New York City. Creative Director Sander Lak studied with Dries Van Noten for five years before heading to New York to create Sies Marjan alongside investor Nancy Marks and Goods and Services Showroom owner, Joey Laurenti. Much to their surprise, their first show in 2016 was presented to notable fashion celebrities (like Anna Wintour and Natalie Massanet) and has been a Fashion Week favorite ever since.
